How I changed my ugly azz Whipple 2.3 cold air setup to a functional, rammed air, Cool Aid piece of art! Parts required for Whipple 2.3 cold air conversion to Chickenear’s Cool-Aid Stage III: First Step: Cut the CCA air box to dimensions shown here.
Second: Bolt the Whipple power steering reservoir bracket to the bottom of the CCA air box (the reservoir will now sit below the throttle linkage when mounted).
Third: Make a custom Z bracket (not pictured but drawn to demonstrate position of bracket) that will be placed between the first half of the Whipple bracket (that is bolted to the power break cylinder) and the second half (now bolted to the bottom of the CCA air box).
Fourth - Vacuum hoses: To reroute the vacuum hoses (3 total, two thick and one thin) that attach to the bottom of the plastic Whipple air intake, start by removing the L shaped intake fittings that came with the Whipple pipe and put them in the air force one throttle body boot. Next cut one of the large hoses to fit in the first fitting (closest fitting to the air box) then attach, follow that by attaching the second large air hose to the other large fitting (it needs no cutting) and last put the thin hose into the center (it needs no cutting). Fifth - 90 degree pipe cuts: The 4" 90 degree pipe I bought had to be trimmed down. One side was cut down 2.5 inches, the other 1 inch. This will position the box exactly where you want it, nice and straight along with tucked against the fender wall. Just in case you get a pipe that was a different size than mine, place the open end of the pipe on a table, it should measure 6 3/8” from the table to the top of the pipe, flip the pipe putting the other end on the table, it should measure 7” to the top. Sixth - Order a new billet top from Tim: You'll need a shorter billet cover for your new Cool-Aid setup because you’ve lost 1.5 inches of length with the modifications, but on the good side of that, your filter is now snug against the inner fender, no more gap or need of filter end piece. And Last: Remove the rubber edging from the top of the Whipple box and put it over the newly cut edges in the Cool-Aid box then install. It’s now finished and looks clean as you'd expect all quality products from the Chicken man to be… :) Original Whipple Cold Air Setup Now with Chickenear's Cool Aid Stage 3!!! |
