The gray color on our pulleys is actually the color of
hard coat anodize clear, it is the hardest known anodizing and is on our
pulleys to stop the aluminum from wearing as it touches the back side of the
belt. The candy colored anodizing on some of the other pulleys will wear
through in a short time, look and wear poorly, then the aluminum will begin to
shine and wear. The hard coat we use costs twice the colored anodizing and has
been tested to a 65 Rockwell hardness. We prefer the contrast of the gray and
silver on our pulleys, plus they compliment the under-hood colors. Those
candy color pulleys are for ricers not gear-heads!
